Steve Lee was a talented Swiss musician, singer, and songwriter. He was born Stefan Alois in Horgen, Switzerland, on August 5, 1963. He became famous as the lead singer of the rock band Gotthard. Steve sadly passed away on October 5, 2010.

Early Music Journey
Steve Lee started his music career at a young age. His first public concert happened in 1979. He was part of a band called Cromo, where he sang and played the drums. Later, in 1988, he joined another group named Forsale.
Forming the Band Gotthard
In 1992, Steve Lee helped create a new band in Lugano, Switzerland. He teamed up with guitarist Leo Leoni, bassist Marc Lynn, and drummer Hena Habegger. They first called their band Krak.
A famous musician named Chris von Rohr helped them. He suggested they change their name to Gotthard. This name was inspired by the Gotthard Pass, a famous mountain pass in Switzerland. The band Gotthard quickly became very popular.
Working with Ayreon
Steve Lee also worked with other musicians. In 2007, he was asked by Arjen Anthony Lucassen to sing on an album. This album was called 01011001 by the band Ayreon, released in 2008. Steve sang alongside many other talented rock singers.

Steve Lee was very good at languages. He could speak Italian, German, English, and French fluently.
A Tragic Accident
On October 5, 2010, Steve Lee was involved in a motorcycle accident. This happened near Mesquite, Nevada, in the United States. A large truck hit a parked motorcycle, which then struck Steve. The Swiss band Blue Cold Ice Creams dedicated their song Moon of Midnight to him.
Musical Influences
Steve Lee loved music from many famous rock bands. Some of his favorite bands included Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Whitesnake, Deep Purple, Bon Jovi, Van Halen, and Aerosmith. He especially admired Whitesnake. Steve based his own singing style on their lead singer, David Coverdale.
