Steven John Wilkos (born March 9, 1964) is an American television personality. He used to be a police officer with the Chicago Police Department. Since 2007, he has been the host of The Steve Wilkos Show. Before that, he was the director of security for Jerry Springer from 1994 to 2007. He even filled in for Jerry Springer as host many times before getting his own show.

Who is Steve Wilkos?

Steve Wilkos was born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1964. He grew up in the Roscoe Village area of Chicago. He is one of four children in his family. His mom, Jeanette, taught at a beauty school. His dad, Stanley, was a police officer and served in the Korean War. Steve graduated from Lane Technical High School in 1982.

From Marine to Police Officer

In October 1982, Steve Wilkos joined the U.S. Marine Corps. He served in places like South Korea, Japan, and different states in the U.S. He left the Marines in March 1989.

After his time in the military, Wilkos joined the Chicago Police Department in 1990. He worked as a police officer in various neighborhoods in Chicago.

Working on The Jerry Springer Show

In May 1994, the people who made Jerry Springer needed security guards. The show was filmed in Chicago at the time. They decided to hire Wilkos and other police officers who were off duty to work part-time. Wilkos helped find other officers for the job.

He retired from the police force in 2002. From 2001, he worked only for The Jerry Springer Show.

His Life Outside of TV

Steve Wilkos married Rachelle Consiglio in 2000. Rachelle was an executive producer for Jerry Springer and also for Steve's own show. They have two children together.

The family used to live in Park Ridge, Illinois. In 2009, they moved to Darien, Connecticut. This was because The Steve Wilkos Show moved its production to Stamford, which is nearby. Steve also has a summer house in Camp Lake, Wisconsin.
