Steven Deon Hunter, born on October 31, 1981, is an American who used to play professional basketball. He was known for playing as a center, which is usually the tallest player on the team. His last team was Dinamo Sassari in Italy.

Steven Hunter's Basketball Journey

Early Basketball Days

Steven Hunter started his basketball journey at Proviso East High School in Illinois. This school is famous for training many talented players who later joined the NBA, like Michael Finley and Doc Rivers. After high school, Steven played college basketball for two years at DePaul University in Chicago. In 2001, he decided to enter the NBA draft.

Starting His NBA Career

Steven Hunter was picked by the Orlando Magic in the first round of the 2001 NBA draft. As a rookie, he quickly showed his skills. On December 5, 2001, he scored 17 points against the Chicago Bulls, which was his highest score at that time.

Playing for Different Teams

Steven played for several teams during his NBA career. After his time with the Orlando Magic, he joined the Phoenix Suns. In 2005, while playing for the Suns, he had a great game in the playoffs. He scored 16 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in a win against the Memphis Grizzlies. His team, the Suns, made it all the way to the Western Conference Finals that year.

Later, Steven played for the Philadelphia 76ers. He was then traded to the Denver Nuggets in 2007. In 2009, he moved to the Memphis Grizzlies. His final NBA game was on February 6, 2010, where he played for 5 minutes.

Playing Overseas

After his NBA career, Steven Hunter went to play basketball in Italy. In October 2011, he signed with Dinamo Sassari.

Life After Playing

In 2013, Steven Hunter started working as a community liaison for the NBA and the Phoenix Suns. In this role, he helps connect the basketball world with communities in Arizona.
