Stewart is a small, quiet place in Rusk County, Texas, United States. It's called an "unincorporated community" because it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. In the year 2000, only about 15 people lived there. Stewart is part of the larger Longview, Texas, area.
Stewart's Past: A Quick Look
Stewart had a post office that opened in 1896. A person named William C. Ray was the postmaster, which means he was in charge of the mail. The post office stayed open for about 11 years. It closed in 1907. After that, mail for Stewart was delivered from a nearby place called Elderville.
Where is Stewart Located?
Stewart is found where two roads meet: Farm to Market Road 782 and Farm to Market Road 2127. It is about 5 miles (8 km) west of Harmony Hill. Stewart is also about 12 miles (19 km) northeast of Henderson. It is 12 miles (19 km) south of Longview. You can find it about 14 miles (23 km) southeast of Kilgore. It is also 8 miles (13 km) west of Tatum. All these towns are in northeastern Rusk County.
