Stewart Dickson was born on December 8, 1950. He is a politician from the Alliance Party of Northern Ireland. Since 2011, he has been a Member of the Northern Ireland Assembly (MLA) for the area of East Antrim. An MLA is like a representative who helps make laws and decisions for Northern Ireland.

Stewart Dickson's Political Journey
Serving as a Local Councillor (1977-2011)
Stewart Dickson first became involved in politics in 1977. He was elected to the Carrickfergus Borough Council. A councillor helps manage local services and make decisions for their town or area.
He represented an area called Area A, which later became the Knockagh Monument electoral area. He lost his seat in 1981 but was re-elected in 1985. After that, he was re-elected in every local election until 2011.
From 1992 to 1993, Stewart Dickson served as the Mayor of Carrickfergus. The Mayor is the leader of the local council.
Becoming a Member of the Assembly (2011-Present)
Stewart Dickson tried to become a Member of the Northern Ireland Assembly several times. He finally won a seat in the 2011 Assembly Elections. He took over the seat from another politician, Seán Neeson, who was retiring.
He has been re-elected as an MLA in every Assembly election since then. This includes elections in 2016, 2017, and 2022. In the 2022 election, his running mate, Danny Donnelly, also won a seat.
About Stewart Dickson's Life
Outside of politics, Stewart Dickson is involved in several community activities. He is a retired member of a trade union called the Northern Ireland Public Service Alliance. He and his wife, Sandra, are also Elders at the Greenisland Presbyterian Church.
Stewart has also helped local schools. He was a long-serving member and Chair of the Boards of Governors for Carrickfergus Central and Silverstream Primary Schools. He is also a Trustee for a charity called OG Cancer NI, which helps people with oesophageal cancer.
In 1999, Stewart was a Winston Churchill Fellow. This allowed him to travel to the United States to study how to create and keep small businesses going. Before becoming an MLA, he worked for the Northern Ireland Labour Relations Agency.
