Stijn Coninx, born on February 21, 1957, is a famous Belgian film director. He is known for making many popular movies that have won awards and been seen by lots of people.

Becoming a Film Director
Stijn Coninx learned how to make movies at a special school called HRITCS (now Ritcs). He directed his first movie, a comedy called Hector, in 1987. This film became a huge hit in Belgium and was the most successful movie there for several years.
He is especially famous for his film Daens, which came out in 1992. This movie was so good that it was nominated for an Oscar! In 1993, the King of Belgium, King Baudouin, made Stijn Coninx a Baron. This is a special honor given to people who have done great things for their country.
Stijn Coninx has also made two interesting movies about real Belgian artists. One was Sister Smile, which told the story of a famous singer known as The Singing Nun. The other was Marina, about the life of musician Rocco Granata.

- 1993: King Baudouin gave Stijn Coninx the title of Baron.
