The Story of Stimorol Gum

How It All Began

The company that first made Stimorol was founded in 1915 by a person named Holger Sørensen. It was located in Vejle, Denmark. At first, the company was called Vejle Caramel- og Tabletfabrik. Later, its name changed to Dansk Tyggegummifabrik A/S. This company grew to become one of the biggest chewing gum makers in the world!

Stimorol Hits the Market

The "Stimorol" gum brand itself was launched in 1956. When it first came out, you could only buy it in countries in Scandinavia. But soon, Stimorol became popular in other parts of Europe. It first arrived in the Netherlands in 1959.

In 1978, the company started making a sugar-free version of Stimorol. By the 1990s, there were many different flavors. You could find fruit flavors and different kinds of mint gum.

Changing Hands: Who Owns Stimorol Now?

In 2002, a big company called Cadbury-Schweppes bought most of the original Dandy company. This included famous brands like DANDY, STIMOROL, DIROL, and V6. Cadbury-Schweppes then changed the name of these gum brands to Trident.

The part of the company that was not sold was renamed Gumlink. The Bagger-Sørensen family still owns Gumlink. They are the family of Holger Sørensen, who started the company many years ago.

Since 2023, the Stimorol brand has been owned by an Italian-Dutch company called Perfetti van Melle. Their main office is in The Netherlands.
