Stokley, Missouri facts for kids
Stokley (sometimes spelled Stokeley) is a small, quiet place in the northwest part of Pettis County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. It's called an unincorporated community, which means it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town does. Instead, it's part of the larger county.
Where is Stokley Located?
Stokley is found about five miles northwest of a town called LaMonte. It's also about six miles northeast of Knob Noster, which is in the next county over, Johnson County. You can find Stokley on a county road, about 1.5 miles west of Missouri Route 127.
A Glimpse into Stokley's History
Stokley once had its very own post office! It first opened in 1884. This post office helped people send and receive letters and packages for many years. However, it eventually closed down in 1902. People believe the community was named after a local family who lived in the area.
