The Stony Crossing Railway
Stony Crossing once had its own railway line! This line connected it to Kerang, a town in Victoria. The railway reached Stony Crossing in March 1928. It even crossed the Murray River at a place called Gonn Crossing.
At first, three trains ran each week to Murrabit. One of these trains continued all the way to Stony Crossing. However, train services between Murrabit and Stony Crossing stopped in 1943. The sign from the Stony Crossing station is now kept at the North Williamstown Railway Museum.
Post Office History
The Post Office in Stony Crossing opened a long time ago, on October 16, 1890. It helped people send and receive mail for many years. However, the Post Office eventually closed its doors in 1956.
