Stony Ridge is located in the northwestern part of Troy Township, which is in Wood County. In 2020, about 434 people lived there. The community has its own post office with the ZIP code 43463.

History of Stony Ridge

Stony Ridge was officially planned and mapped out in 1872. This process, called "platting," means that the streets and land lots were drawn on a map. The area was given the name Stony Ridge because the ground there was quite rocky.

Even before it was officially mapped, Stony Ridge had a post office. This post office has been helping people send and receive mail since 1837. This shows that people were living and communicating in the area long before it was formally laid out.

Geography and Location

Stony Ridge is situated where two major U.S. highways, Route 20 and Route 23, run together. This means they share the same road for a short distance. The community is found at the intersection of Stony Ridge Road and East Broadway.

The area of Stony Ridge covers about 4.4 square kilometers (or 1.7 square miles). All of this area is land, meaning there are no large lakes or rivers within its boundaries.
