Strömstad Municipality (which in Swedish is Strömstads kommun) is a special area in Västra Götaland County in western Sweden. It's like a local government area. The main town, or "seat," of this municipality is the city of Strömstad.
The municipality got its current shape in 1967. This happened when the City of Strömstad joined with two nearby country areas called Tjärnö and Vette. Vette itself was formed in 1952 from four older, smaller areas.
Geography and Location
Strömstad Municipality is located right next to the border with Norway. Because of this, many people from Norway often visit to shop. They find better prices on many things, like groceries.
