Stratford was a special area in the UK that chose one person to represent it in the House of Commons. This is part of the UK Parliament. This area was officially called the Stratford Division of West Ham. It was located in the Borough of West Ham, which is now part of East London.
People in Stratford voted using a system called first-past-the-post. This means the candidate who gets the most votes wins, even if they don't get more than half of all the votes. The Stratford area was a parliamentary constituency from the 1918 general election until it was removed for the 1950 general election.
