Stringtown, also known as String Town, was once a busy mining community in Wabash Township, Fountain County, Indiana, in the United States. It was located close to a place called Snoddy's Mill, which is now known as Coal Creek. Stringtown is one of several places in the United States that share this name, though they are not connected.

In 1881, a history book about the county described Stringtown. It mentioned that many houses were built quickly by coal companies for the miners to live in. The town grew very fast and was a lively place. Around 600 men worked in the mines there. There was a huge demand for coal, but it was often hard to transport it all out of the town. Stringtown also had religious groups, often made up of miners who had come from other countries.
