Stewart Bryan Cole (born February 7, 1966), known as Stu Cole, is an American former professional baseball player. He played as an infielder, which means he played in the infield positions like first base, second base, third base, or shortstop. After his playing career, he became a coach. He was the third base coach for the Colorado Rockies, a team in Major League Baseball (MLB). Stu Cole played in MLB for the Kansas City Royals.

Stu Cole's Playing Days
Stu Cole grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina. He went to South Mecklenburg High School there. After high school, he was picked by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 1984 MLB draft. However, he decided not to sign with them. Instead, he chose to go to college at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Joining the Royals
In 1987, the Kansas City Royals drafted Stu Cole. He was the 67th player chosen in the third round. He played professional baseball for nine years, from 1987 to 1995. During this time, he played for teams in both the Kansas City Royals and Colorado Rockies organizations.
His MLB Debut
Stu Cole played nine games in Major League Baseball for the Royals in 1991. He got his only MLB hit on September 13, 1991. It was a single in the 12th inning. He hit it off a pitcher named Michael Jackson from the Seattle Mariners.
Stu Cole's Coaching Career
Stu Cole started coaching for the Colorado Rockies organization in 1995. He has been a coach for many years.
Early Coaching Roles
In 2001, he became the very first manager for the Tri-City Dust Devils team. Later, he managed the Double-A team, the Tulsa Drillers, from 2006 to 2009. In May 2009, he became the manager for the Triple-A team, the Colorado Springs Sky Sox.
Becoming an MLB Coach
On November 15, 2012, Stu Cole was named the third base coach for the Colorado Rockies. He held this important position for many seasons. After the 2022 baseball season, the Rockies moved him to a different role. He now works with their minor league teams.
