Stewart Bryan Cole (born February 7, 1966) is an American who used to play professional baseball. He was an infielder, which means he played in the infield. Today, he is a coach. He works as the third base coach for the Colorado Rockies, a team in Major League Baseball (MLB). Cole played in MLB for the Kansas City Royals.

Stu Cole's Playing Days
Stu Cole went to South Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte, North Carolina. After high school, baseball teams wanted him to play for them.
Becoming a Professional Player
The Pittsburgh Pirates baseball team chose him in the 19th round of the 1984 MLB draft. This is like a special selection process for young players. But Stu decided not to sign with them. Instead, he went to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte to play college baseball.
Later, the Kansas City Royals picked him in the 3rd round of the 1987 MLB draft. He was the 67th player chosen that year.
Playing in the Big Leagues
Stu Cole played professional baseball from 1987 to 1995. He played for teams that were part of the Kansas City Royals and Colorado Rockies organizations.
In 1991, he played nine games in Major League Baseball for the Royals. He got his only hit on September 13. It was a single hit in the 12th inning against Michael Jackson of the Seattle Mariners. A single means he hit the ball and reached first base safely.
Stu Cole's Coaching Career
After his playing career, Stu Cole became a baseball coach. He has been a coach with the Rockies organization since 1995.
Managing Minor League Teams
In 2001, he became the very first manager for the Tri-City Dust Devils team. A manager is like the head coach who leads the team.
From 2006 to 2009, he managed the Tulsa Drillers. This team is in Double-A baseball, which is a step below the major leagues. In May 2009, he became the manager for the Colorado Springs Sky Sox. This team is in Triple-A, which is the highest level before Major League Baseball.
Coaching in Major League Baseball
On November 15, 2012, Stu Cole was named the third base coach for the Colorado Rockies. The third base coach helps players know when to run and when to stop as they try to score.
After the 2022 season, the Rockies decided to move Cole to a different coaching job. He now works with their minor league teams.
