After Pizza Hut, other companies started making their own versions. In 2001, DiGiorno began selling cheese stuffed crust pizzas in grocery stores. This meant people could bake them at home!
Pizza companies around the world have gotten very creative with stuffed crusts:
- In 2012, Pizza Hut started selling hot dog stuffed crust pizza in countries like Japan, China, and South Korea. It later came to Australia, Canada, the U.K., and the U.S.
- Domino's also sold a hot dog stuffed crust pizza in some countries.
- Pizza Hut New Zealand once sold a pizza with Marmite in the crust. Marmite is a savory spread popular there.
- In Japan, Pizza Hut offered a crust with pockets filled with different things. These included Camembert cheese, shrimp, sausage, and mozzarella.
