DiGiorno is a well-known brand of frozen pizzas. It is sold in the United States. DiGiorno is part of Nestlé, a large food company. In Canada, these pizzas were sold under the name Delissio. However, Nestlé stopped selling Delissio pizzas in Canada in 2023.

About DiGiorno Pizzas

DiGiorno makes a lot of pizzas every day. They produce over 250,000 pizzas daily for people across the United States. In 2017, the company earned over $1 billion from pizza sales.

The DiGiorno brand first started in 1991. Back then, they sold pastas and sauces. Pizzas became available in the U.S. in 1995. They were also sold in Canada for some time.

The Famous Slogan

DiGiorno's famous slogan is "It's not delivery. It's DiGiorno." This slogan suggests that their frozen pizzas taste so good. They want you to think they are as good as fresh pizzas from a restaurant. In Canada, the slogan was "It's not delivery. It's Delissio."

Brand Changes and Growth

In 1999, DiGiorno changed its name to Delissio in Canada. Another company, Kraft, had used the Delissio name for other pizza products before.

In 2010, Kraft sold DiGiorno and Delissio to Nestlé. Nestlé is a big food company from Switzerland. This sale helped Kraft get money for another business deal. After Nestlé bought the brand, DiGiorno started offering more products. These included bonus appetizers in the pizza box. You could find breadsticks, boneless chicken pieces, and Toll House cookies.

In 2013, there were concerns about animal welfare. A dairy farm that supplied milk to DiGiorno's dairy supplier faced issues. The supplier, Foremost Farms USA, stopped working with that farm. Nestlé and Foremost Farms USA said they did not know about the problems.

DiGiorno's Journey Through Time

In 2013, DiGiorno's sales growth slowed down. The company decided to make some changes. They wanted to improve their product range. Even though sales were slow, the frozen food market was expected to grow. This was good news for DiGiorno.

New Pizza Kits

Later in 2013, DiGiorno announced something new. They launched the "Design A Pizza Kit." This kit let you make your own pizza. It came with a cheese pizza. It also had separate packets of meats, vegetables, shredded cheese, and seasoning. This allowed people to customize their meal.

Social Media Fun

In May 2018, DiGiorno joined a fun social media contest. It was called the "1st Annual Best Friend Tournament." This competition was run by internet entertainers Kinda Funny. DiGiorno won against other brands like Napa Smith Gallery and Portillo's Restaurants. They even beat Oreo. DiGiorno made it to the semifinals. They were almost winners, but lost to a person named Barbara Dunkelman.

Leaving the Canadian Market

In February 2023, Nestlé Canada made an announcement. They decided to stop selling frozen meals and pizzas in Canada. This meant that Delissio pizzas were no longer available there.
