Sturgis is a city located in Union County, Kentucky, United States. It is in the northwest part of Kentucky. In 2020, about 1,735 people lived there. The city was started in 1890. It was named after Samuel Sturgis, who owned the land where the city now stands.

History of Sturgis
The area around Sturgis was first settled by soldiers. These soldiers fought in the American Revolutionary War. Most of them came from Virginia. They received land for their service in the war.
Sturgis began as a town built by a company. This company was called the Cumberland Land and Iron Company. They developed the area for coal mining. The town was officially recognized as a town on May 3, 1890. At that time, it had 327 people. Later, in the 1920s, Sturgis became known as a city.
