Sud (which means South) or Sud-Muntenia is a special area in Romania. It is called a development region. These regions help manage how different parts of the country grow and improve. The main city, or capital, of Sud-Muntenia is Călăraşi.

What is Sud-Muntenia?

This region is located in the southern part of Romania. It covers a large area of about 34,489 square kilometers. That's a bit smaller than the country of Moldova!

Population and People

In 2011, about 3,069,614 people lived in Sud-Muntenia. This makes it one of the most populated regions in Romania. Most of the people living here are Romanians. There is also a significant number of Romani people.

The region is home to many different communities. They all contribute to the culture and life of Sud-Muntenia.

Economy and Development

The economy of Sud-Muntenia includes farming, industry, and services. The region works to grow its economy and create jobs. Development regions like Sud-Muntenia often get funds for big projects. These projects can improve roads, schools, and hospitals.
