Susan Cleaver (born 2 September 1963) is an English actress. She is most famous for playing Eileen Grimshaw in the popular ITV soap opera Coronation Street. She played this role from 2000 until 2025. In 2024, Sue also became a regular guest on the TV show Loose Women.

About Sue Cleaver's Life
Sue Cleaver was born on 2 September 1963 in Barnet, Hertfordshire, England. She was adopted as a baby.
Later, when she was in her twenties, Sue met her birth mother. She also found out she had two half-sisters, Emma and Kate Harbour, who are also actresses.
Sue was married to James Quinn from 1993 to 2003. They have one son together.
Sue Cleaver's Acting Career
Sue Cleaver studied acting at the Manchester Metropolitan School of Theatre. Her very first TV appearance was a small part in an episode of A Touch of Frost.
She then acted in the drama series Band of Gold. After that, she got a role in the film Girls' Night, where she worked with famous actresses like Julie Walters and Brenda Blethyn.
In 1998, Sue played Duty Sgt. Standish in the TV show The Cops. She also played Glenda, a character who delivered baked goods, in Victoria Wood's comedy series dinnerladies from 1999 to 2000.
In 2000, she appeared as PC Sylvia Holland in a miniseries called This Is Personal: The Hunt for the Yorkshire Ripper. She also had a small part in the film The Man Who Cried, which starred Johnny Depp and Cate Blanchett.
After filming The Man Who Cried in 2000, Sue was cast as Eileen Grimshaw in Coronation Street. This became her most well-known role.
Sue also helped out on the ITV daytime show This Morning. She filled in for Denise Robertson as the "agony aunt" (someone who gives advice) until Denise passed away in 2016. Sue also trained for three years to become a psychotherapist, which is a type of therapist who helps people with their thoughts and feelings.
In 2022, Sue Cleaver was a contestant on the TV show I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!. She spent sixteen days in the jungle and finished in 9th place.
In 2023, Sue was a guest on the ITV show Loose Women. She then became a regular panellist on the show in 2024. Also in 2024, Sue wrote and published her first book, called A Work In Progress.
