How Sugar Mountain Got Its Name
The name "Sugar Mountain" has a cool story! Some people believe the mountain got its name because the snow on the ground looked like grains of sugar. These were the first people to settle here, and the name stuck.
Another story says that around 1900, many people in the area worked at a sugar factory. One night in January, sugar supposedly leaked from the factory. It covered the ground in a white layer that looked just like snow!
