Sumas Peak facts for kids
Sumas Peak is the official name for the very top, or summit, of Sumas Mountain. This mountain is found in British Columbia, Canada. It sits on the south side of the Fraser River in an area called the Fraser Valley. You can find it between the cities of Abbotsford and Chilliwack.
Sumas Peak is quite high! It reaches about 910 meters (or 2,986 feet) above sea level. Its prominence, which is how much it rises above the land around it, is about 875 meters (or 2,871 feet).

What is Sumas Peak?
Sumas Peak is the highest point of Sumas Mountain. The mountain itself is mostly covered in trees all the way to its top. However, the far southwestern part of the mountain has homes and neighborhoods. These areas are close to downtown Abbotsford and the Mission By-Pass road.

Sumas Mountain is a great place for outdoor activities. There are trails and even a road that goes up to the peak.
The Centennial Trail
A famous trail called the Centennial Trail crosses Sumas Mountain. This trail is actually part of the much larger Trans-Canada Trail, which is a huge network of trails that goes across all of Canada! The Centennial Trail lets you hike or bike across the mountain from east to west.
Microwave Tower and Chadsey Lake
At the very top of Sumas Peak, there is a road that leads to a microwave tower. This tower helps send signals for communications. Close to the peak, you can also find Chadsey Lake. This beautiful lake is part of a park, offering another lovely spot to visit on the mountain.
