History of Summer Hill
Summer Hill was started in 1845 by a man named Lyman Scott. He built a summer home there one year before the community began. Lyman Scott was an important businessman in the area.
He cared about education and helped the community grow. Soon after Summer Hill was founded, he set up and paid for the very first school there.
Lyman Scott House
Lyman Scott's original house is still standing today. It is the oldest home in Summer Hill. This house is so important that it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This is a special list of buildings, sites, and objects that are important in American history.
