History of Summit
Summit was founded in 1892. It got its name because the town is built on a high piece of land.
Geography and Climate
Summit is located in South Dakota. The United States Census Bureau says the town covers about 0.56 square miles (1.42 square kilometers) of land. There is no water area within the town limits.
