Who is Sunay Akın?
Sunay Akın was born in a city called Trabzon in Turkey. He grew up loving poetry. Two famous poets, Orhan Veli Kanık and Cemal Süreya, greatly influenced his writing style.

The Istanbul Toy Museum
Sunay Akın has a huge collection of over 7,000 toys! Some of these toys are nearly 200 years old. About 4,000 of them are shown at the İstanbul Toy Museum. He opened this special museum in 2005. It's a fun place to see toys from different times and places.

His Works
Early Poems and Journals
Sunay Akın's first poems were printed in different magazines in 1984. In 1989, he started his own poetry journal called "Yeni Yaprak" ("New Page"). This journal was a tribute to a famous journal from 1949 by Orhan Veli. "Yeni Yaprak" was published with other poets and had sixteen issues.
In 1990, Akın helped publish another poetry journal called "Olmaz" (Won't Happen). In 1991, he was part of a special poem called "Barış için dizeler" ("Lines for Peace"). In this poem, 81 Turkish poets each wrote a part without knowing what others wrote. Many famous Turkish writers were part of this project.

His poems have appeared in many magazines and collections. These include publications like Milliyet Sanat, Varlık, and Journal of poetry & literature. He also wrote essays about poetry and art history for the Cumhuriyet newspaper's "Gezi" supplement.
