Asunción "Sunny" Cummings Hostin was born on October 20, 1968. She is an American lawyer, author, and television host. Many people know her as a co-host on the popular morning talk show The View on ABC. She is also a Senior Legal Correspondent and Analyst for ABC News.

Early Life and Education
Sunny Hostin was born in New York City on October 20, 1968. Her mother, Rosa Beza, is from Puerto Rico, and her father, William Cummings, is African American. Sunny grew up in The Bronx, New York City. She can speak both English and Spanish fluently.
For her education, Sunny went to Dominican Academy, an all-girls school. She then studied at Binghamton University, where she earned a degree in English. Later, she went to Notre Dame Law School and earned her law degree.
Sunny Hostin's Career Journey
Sunny Hostin started her career as a lawyer. She worked for a judge and then for the U.S. Department of Justice. In this role, she helped make sure businesses followed fair rules. She also worked at a company called Kroll Inc., where she led teams that investigated fraud around the world.
Becoming a TV Personality
Sunny began her television career as a commentator on Court TV. She started using the name "Sunny Hostin" because a host found her first name, Asunción, hard to say. She then appeared on Fox News and later joined CNN in 2007 as a legal expert for their morning show, American Morning.

In 2017, Sunny had a small role playing herself in the movie Girls Trip.
Books and Other Projects
In 2019, Sunny Hostin hosted and produced a documentary series called Truth About Murder With Sunny Hostin for Investigation Discovery. In this show, she explored the stories behind some well-known crimes in the U.S. She also hosted a podcast called Have You Seen This Man?.
Sunny has also written books. In 2020, she released her memoir, I Am These Truths, which tells her life story. The next year, she published a novel called Summer on the Bluffs. This book is being made into a television series. Sunny is also working as an executive producer on a TV drama series called The Counsel, which is inspired by her own life and career.
Personal Life
Sunny Hostin is married to Emmanuel Hostin, who is a surgeon. They have two children, a boy and a girl. The family lives in Purchase, New York. Sunny is a Catholic. She is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, a sorority.
