The History of Sunridge

Sunridge Ski Area has an interesting past with a few name changes.

Opening and Early Years

The ski area first opened in 1980. Back then, it was part of the Strathcona Science Provincial Park. It was a place where people could enjoy outdoor activities.

Name Changes Over Time

In 1983, a private company took over the ski area. They changed its name to Hidden Ridge Ski Area. A few years later, in 1988, the management changed again. That's when it got its current name, Sunridge Ski Area.

New Lifts and Improvements

In 2007, Sunridge made a big improvement. They added more earth to the area between some of their older lifts. Then, they installed a new chairlift called the Silverlode triple chairlift. This lift originally came from Red Mountain Resort, another ski area. These changes helped make Sunridge even better for visitors.
