Sunset is a small community located in Montague County, Texas, in the United States. It is not an official city, but rather an unincorporated area. For a while, people thought Sunset was in Wise County, Texas, but that was a mistake in surveying that was fixed by 1900.
A railway called the Fort Worth and Denver Railway goes right through Sunset. In 2000, about 339 people lived there. The community stopped being an official city on April 19, 2007.

History of Sunset
Sunset has a unique past. It was once thought to be in a different county due to a surveying error. This mistake was corrected by the year 1900. The railway played a big part in its early development.
Wildfires in 2009
On April 9, 2009, a serious event happened in Sunset. The community had to be evacuated because of large wildfires getting close. These fires moved through the town in a "patchwork" way, meaning they hit some areas hard while leaving others untouched. Many homes and businesses were damaged or destroyed during this time.
