Swastima Khadka (born July 4, 1995) is a talented actress from Nepal. She is famous for her roles in Nepali movies. Some of her well-known films include Love Love Love (2017), Chhakka Panja 2 (2017), Nai Nabhannu La 5 (2018), and Bulbul (2019).
Swastima started her acting journey in 2015 with the movie Hostel Returns. For this role, she was nominated for a National Film Award. In 2017, she appeared in the film Chhakka Panja 2. That same year, she starred in Bulbul. This movie was chosen to represent Nepal at the 92nd Academy Awards for Best International Feature Film, but it was not nominated. Swastima Khadka married film director Nischal Basnet in 2016.

About Swastima's Early Life
Swastima Khadka was born on July 4, 1995, in Kathmandu, Nepal. She finished her School Leaving Certificate (SLC) from Birendra Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya in Bhaktapur. She also earned a three-year diploma in architectural engineering from Thapathali Campus.
When she was 17, Swastima took part in the Nepali national beauty pageant Miss Teen Nepal. She mentioned that this experience was a "stepping stone" for her career. On December 14, 2015, Swastima and film director Nischal Basnet got engaged. They married on February 17, 2016, in a private ceremony in Kathmandu.
Swastima's Acting Career
Starting Her Film Journey (2015–2017)
In 2015, Swastima Khadka made her first appearance in a movie called Hostel Returns. She acted alongside Sushil Shrestha, Najir Hussain, and Sunil Rawal. In the film, she played a character named Alina. For her role in Hostel Returns, she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the National Film Awards.
Her second movie was Dipendra K. Khanal's romantic drama Love Love Love (2017). In this film, she played Samriddhi, a girl whose childhood friend loves her, but she does not feel the same way. Critics praised her acting in Love Love Love. The Himalayan Times newspaper wrote that her performance was "appealing" and her "dialogue delivery [was] brilliant."
Swastima also made a special appearance in the popular song "Kutu Ma Kutu" (2017). People loved her dance and smile in the music video. This song became the first Nepali music video to reach 200 million views on YouTube.
Later in 2017, Khadka appeared in Deepa Shree Niraula's social drama film Chhakka Panja 2. She played Akansha, a student who wants to study in Australia. However, she struggles with the English language exam needed to go there. The Kathmandu Post reported that Chhakka Panja 2 earned a lot of money quickly. It became the second highest-grossing Nepali film at that time.
When asked about working on Chhakka Panja 2, Swastima said she learned a lot from the experienced cast members. She felt it was an advantage to learn from them, even if she was sometimes overshadowed.
Recent Films: Nai Nabhannu La 5 and Bulbul (2018–Present)
In 2018, Swastima Khadka starred in Bikash Raj Acharya's romantic drama Nai Nabhannu La 5. This was the fifth movie in the Nai Nabhannu La film series. Swastima played Ranjana, a teenage girl who falls in love with Neer. Her acting was praised, with one reviewer saying she played the "stubborn late teen" role "quite well." The film earned a lot of money in its first weekend.
Later in 2018, Khadka had a small role in Chhakka Panja 3. She played a girl who becomes the love interest of a boy from a different background. She also appeared in Jai Bhole (2018) with Khagendra Lamichhane and Saugat Malla. In this movie, her character Nisha is loved by Jai, but her sworn brother causes problems for them.
In 2019, Khadka starred with Mukun Bhusal in Binod Paudel's drama film Bulbul. Swastima played Ranakala, a student driver in Kathmandu. This film was chosen to represent Nepal at the 92nd Academy Awards for Best International Feature Film. Although it was not nominated, Swastima received a lot of praise for her performance. She said that Bulbul brought her the most appreciation out of all her movies.
A reviewer from Nepali Times praised her acting in Bulbul, saying her portrayal of Ranakala was "authentic" and "captivates." The reviewer added that Swastima showed Ranakala's struggles and strength as a fierce worker, a tender mother, and an understanding friend.
After Bulbul, Khadka appeared in Hajar Juni Samma and Ghamad Shere in the same year. In Hajar Juni Samma, she played Avantika, a medical student. In Ghamad Shere, Swastima played Gauri, an English teacher. She was also the sister-in-law of the main character, played by her husband Nischal Basnet.
