Swastima Khadka (Nepali: स्वस्तिमा खड्का) was born on July 4, 1995. She is a talented Nepali actress. She is famous for her work in Nepali movies. You might have seen her in films like Love Love Love (2017) and Chhakka Panja 2 (2017). She also starred in Nai Nabhannu La 5 (2018) and Bulbul (2019).

Swastima started her acting journey in 2015 with the teen romance movie Hostel Returns. For this role, she was nominated for a special award called the National Film Awards for Best Supporting Actress. In 2017, she appeared in the movie Chhakka Panja 2. Later that year, she starred in the drama film Bulbul. This movie was even chosen to represent Nepal at the 92nd Academy Awards. Swastima married film director Nischal Basnet in 2016.

Early Life and Family

Swastima Khadka was born in Kathmandu, Nepal, on July 4, 1995. She finished her School Leaving Certificate (SLC) from Birendra Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya. This school is located in Bhaktapur.

She also studied architectural engineering. She earned a three-year diploma from the Thapathali Campus. When she was 17, Swastima took part in a national beauty contest called Miss Teen Nepal. She saw this as a great step for her career.

On December 14, 2015, Swastima Khadka and film director Nischal Basnet got engaged. They had a small ceremony with their close family. They then got married on February 17, 2016. Their wedding was a private event held in Kathmandu.

Swastima's Acting Journey

Starting Out in Movies (2015–2017)

In 2015, Swastima Khadka made her first movie appearance. It was in Suraj Bhusal's film Hostel Returns. She acted alongside Sushil Shrestha and Najir Hussain. In the movie, she played a character named Alina. Alina was part of a love triangle at her school. Swastima was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for this role. This was at the National Film Awards.

Her second movie was Dipendra K. Khanal's romantic drama Love Love Love (2017). She played Samriddhi, a girl whose childhood friend loves her, but she doesn't feel the same way. Critics really liked her acting in this film. The Himalayan Times newspaper said her performance was "appealing" and "brilliant."

Swastima also made a special appearance in the song "Kutu Ma Kutu" (2017). People loved her in the music video. One reviewer said, "Swastima Khadka danced gracefully to this catchy Nepali number." This song became the first Nepali music video to get 100 million views on YouTube!

Later in 2017, Swastima was in Deepa Shree Niraula's social drama film Chhakka Panja 2. She played Akansha, a student who wants to study in Australia. But she struggles with the English exam needed to get there. The Kathmandu Post reported that Chhakka Panja 2 earned a lot of money very quickly. It became the second highest-grossing Nepali film in Nepal. Swastima said she learned a lot from working with the experienced actors in Chhakka Panja 2. She called them "superstars" and said she learned about acting and dealing with the media.

In 2018, Swastima Khadka starred in Bikash Raj Acharya's romantic drama Nai Nabhannu La 5. This was the fifth movie in the Nai Nabhannu La series. Swastima played Ranjana, a teenage girl who falls in love with Neer. Critics praised her acting as a "stubborn late teen." The movie did very well, earning a lot of money in its first weekend.

Later in 2018, Swastima had a small role in Chhakka Panja 3. She played a girl who becomes the love interest of a Janajati boy. She also appeared in Jai Bhole (2018). In this film, her character Nisha is loved by Jai, but her sworn brother causes problems for them.

In 2019, Swastima Khadka starred in Binod Paudel's drama film Bulbul with Mukun Bhusal. Swastima played Ranakala, a student who drives a tempo (a type of public transport) in Kathmandu. This movie was chosen to represent Nepal at the 92nd Academy Awards for Best International Feature Film. Swastima received a lot of praise for her role in Bulbul. She said it was her most appreciated movie. Critics loved her "authentic portrayal" of Ranakala. They said she showed the character's struggles and strength very well.

After Bulbul, Swastima appeared in Hajar Juni Samma and Ghamad Shere in the same year. In Hajar Juni Samma, she played Avantika, a medical student. In Ghamad Shere, Swastima played Gauri, an English teacher. She was the sister-in-law of the main character, played by her real-life husband, Nischal Basnet.
