Sweet Grass Creek is a stream in south-central Montana, a state in the United States. It is about 50 miles (80 kilometers) long. This creek is a tributary of the Yellowstone River. A tributary is a smaller stream or river that flows into a larger one.

Where Does Sweet Grass Creek Start?

Sweet Grass Creek begins high up in the Crazy Mountains. These mountains are part of the Gallatin National Forest. This starting point is in the eastern part of Park County.

The Journey of the Creek

From its mountain source, the creek flows toward the northeast. It then enters Sweet Grass County. After that, it turns and flows southeast, passing by the town of Melville. Finally, it turns south. The creek joins the mighty Yellowstone River about 2 miles (3 kilometers) northwest of Greycliff.
