History of Swiftwater

Swiftwater has an interesting past. In 1897, a scientist named Richard Slee started the Pocono Biological Laboratories here. This was a place where important scientific research happened.

Today, Swiftwater is known for two main things. You can find the Pocono Cheesecake Factory on Route 611, where delicious treats are made. It is also home to the largest factory in the United States that produces flu vaccines. This factory plays a very important role in public health.

Swiftwater is located in a beautiful natural area. It sits within the Paradise Creek Watershed. A watershed is an area of land where all the water drains into a common point, like a river or stream.
