The Sybase Classic was a big golf tournament for professional women golfers. It was part of the LPGA Tour, which is like the major league for women's golf. This event happened every year for twenty years, from 1990 to 2009.

When it first started, the tournament was called the "Big Apple Classic." This name was used because it was held near New York City. In 2007, the tournament moved to New Jersey. Because of the move, its name changed to the Sybase Classic.

For many years, the tournament was held at the Wykagyl Country Club in New Rochelle, New York. Later, it moved to the Upper Montclair Country Club in Clifton, New Jersey. The last Sybase Classic was played in 2009. The main sponsor, Sybase, decided to support a different golf event after that.

Over the years, money raised from the tournament helped many good causes. These included charities like St. Joseph's Healthcare System, Inc. and the Boys & Girls Club of Clifton.

What Was the Sybase Classic?

The Sybase Classic was a professional golf competition. Women golfers from all over the world came to play. They competed in a format called Stroke play. This means they counted every hit they made. The player with the fewest hits over 72 holes (four rounds of 18 holes) won.
