Sylvia Constantinidis was born on December 3, 1962. She is a talented Venezuelan-American musician. Sylvia is known as a pianist, composer, and conductor. She also writes and teaches music.

Her Early Life and Music Studies

Sylvia Constantinidis was born in Venezuela. She started learning music at a young age in Caracas. Some of her first music teachers in Venezuela were famous musicians like Modesta Bor and Alberto Grau.

Later, she continued her studies in Paris, France. She attended the Ecole Martenot and the Sorbonne University. Sylvia worked as a pianist in Venezuela, playing with orchestras and touring. She earned a Bachelor of Arts and Music degree from the Central University of Venezuela.

In the 1990s, she moved to the United States. She earned two Master's degrees from the University of Miami. One was in Piano Performance, and the other was in Music Theory and Composition. She also studied at Boston University.

Her Music Career

Sylvia Constantinidis has had a very active career in music. She received the Music Note Award in 2003. This was for three children's operas she created. These operas were called Lincoln, Ponce de Leon, and The First Thanks Giving. They were first performed in Florida.

She also won the "Educator of Note Award 2003". This award recognized her for being a great music educator. In 2009 and 2010, she received the ASCAP Plus Award for her concert music.

Sylvia leads two music groups. She is the artistic director of the Omorfia Contemporary Ensemble. She also directs the Southeast Composers Chamber Orchestra. She used to be the President of the Southeast Chapter of the National Association of Composers (NACUSA) in the United States.
