Syracuse Baseball Wall of Fame facts for kids
The Syracuse Baseball Wall of Fame is a special place. It honors people who have made baseball great in Syracuse, New York. The Wall of Fame was started in 1998. This was to celebrate 140 years of organized baseball in the city. You can find it at NBT Bank Stadium. This stadium is home to the Syracuse Mets. They are a Triple-A baseball team. Triple-A is the highest level of minor league baseball. The Wall of Fame is inside the stadium's Hall of Fame area.
How People Get Honored
The Wall of Fame honors people in different ways. They are chosen based on these groups:
- People from the first 75 years of professional baseball (1858–1933).
- Former players of the Chiefs or SkyChiefs teams (1934–present).
- Professional baseball players or others connected to professional baseball.
- People who have helped the game of baseball in other ways.
A special committee used to choose the people for the Wall of Fame. This committee included Ron Gersbacher, John Simone, Tex Simone, Bob Snyder, and Tom Leo.
