Special Jade Axes
Among the treasures are two very old jade axes. Jade is a beautiful green stone.
- One jade axe was found in Kizukuri, Aomori Prefecture.
- Another jade axe was found in Niisato, Iwate Prefecture.
These axes are from the Jōmon period. This was a time in Japanese history that started about 10,000 BC. Both of these jade axes are so important that they are called Important Cultural Properties. This means they are very special and protected by Japan.
