Thomas Julius Brown (born August 18, 1915 – died November 22, 1973) was a talented American baseball player. He was a shortstop in the Negro leagues from 1939 to 1950.

T. J. Brown grew up in Des Moines, Iowa, and went to high school in East Moline, Illinois. He started his professional baseball career in 1939 with the Memphis Red Sox. He played for this team for most of his career.

Thomas Julius Brown was born on August 18, 1915. His hometown was Des Moines, Iowa. As a young person, he went to East Moline High School in East Moline, Illinois.

Joining the Negro Leagues

In 1939, T. J. Brown began his professional baseball journey. He joined the Memphis Red Sox team. This was part of the Negro leagues. These leagues were important for Black baseball players. They played at a time when major league baseball was segregated.

Baseball Career Highlights

T. J. Brown spent most of his career with the Memphis Red Sox. He played for them from 1939 to 1945. He later returned to the team from 1947 to 1950.

All-Star Recognition

Brown was a very good player. In 1942, he was chosen for a special game. This game was called the East–West All-Star Game. It was a big honor for players in the Negro leagues. Being selected showed he was one of the best shortstops.
