Stonebrae Country Club is a special golf course and private club located in the hills above Hayward, California. It sits on the eastern side of the San Francisco Bay Area. This club is known for its "links style" golf course, which means it looks and feels like the old courses found along the coast in Scotland.
Stonebrae Country Club opened its doors in 2007. It quickly became known as one of the best golf courses in Northern California. In 2008, the course joined the Tournament Players Club (TPC) network. This network is run by the PGA Tour, which is a big organization for professional golf. The club was first called TPC San Francisco Bay, then TPC Stonebrae. Since January 1st, 2024, it is known again as Stonebrae Country Club. YCS Investments owns and operates the club.

A Top-Rated Golf Course
When Stonebrae opened, it quickly earned many awards. LINKS Magazine called it "Northern California’s Best New Course" in 2007. Travel + Leisure Golf also named it "One of the Best New Golf Courses" that same year. In 2008, Golf Digest ranked it as the "6th Best New Private Course in America."
The club also received awards for being environmentally friendly. It won the National Private Course Winner for Environmental Leaders in Golf Awards (ELGA) in 2015. It also received Merit Winner awards from ELGA many times between 2007 and 2016. This shows their commitment to protecting nature.
The Clubhouse Experience
In 2014, Stonebrae Country Club opened a brand new clubhouse. This building is very large, covering 32,000 square feet. It was recognized as the "2nd Best New Clubhouse in the World" by Golf INC Magazine in 2014. The clubhouse offers a great place for members to relax and enjoy the club's facilities.
Hosting Golf Tournaments
From 2008 to 2019, Stonebrae Country Club was the home of the Ellie Mae Classic. This was a professional golf tournament that was part of the Korn Ferry Tour. The Korn Ferry Tour is where up-and-coming golfers compete to earn a spot on the main PGA Tour. The tournament was not held in 2013 because of the new clubhouse construction.
Record-Breaking Moments
In 2016, something amazing happened at the Ellie Mae Classic at Stonebrae. A golfer named Stephan Jaeger set a new record. He shot a score of 58 in one round, which was the lowest 18-hole score ever in a PGA Tour-sanctioned event. He also set the lowest 72-hole total score in the history of such events.
Stephen Curry's Golf Debut
In 2017, Stephen Curry, a famous basketball player for the Golden State Warriors, played in the Ellie Mae Classic. He received a special invitation to join the tournament. It was his first time playing in a professional golf event. He played again in 2018. His participation brought a lot of excitement to the tournament.
