Tabi Bonney is a rapper who was born in Togo, a country in West Africa. He grew up and is based in Washington, D.C., in the United States. His full name is Tabiabuè Bonney.

Tabi's father, Itadi Bonney, was a famous afro-funk musician in the 1970s. Tabi Bonney became well-known in the Washington D.C. area for his songs "The Pocket" and "Doin It." The song "Doin It" also featured the singer Raheem DeVaughn. Besides music, Tabi Bonney also created his own clothing line called Bonney Runway. He has also directed and produced music videos for other artists, including his friend, rapper Wale.

About Tabi Bonney's Life

Tabi Bonney was born in Lomé, the capital city of Togo. His father, Itadi Bonney, was a musician, and his mother, Jo, was a teacher from Washington, D.C. His mother was working in Lomé with the Peace Corps, a group that helps people in other countries.

Because of political problems in Togo, Tabi's family had to leave the country. They eventually moved to Washington, D.C., where Tabi grew up. Tabi's parents wanted him to go to college and become a doctor. He studied at Florida A&M University and earned a Master's degree in biology.

Even though he studied to be a doctor, Tabi realized it wasn't what he truly wanted to do. After college, he worked as a science teacher at Roosevelt High School for two years.

Tabi Bonney's Music Journey

While Tabi was in college, he and his friend Haziq Ali started a music group called Organized Rhyme. Their group got to open shows for famous artists like LL Cool J, Cam'ron, and OutKast.

In 2006, Tabi Bonney released his first big song, "The Pocket." This song was a hit in his region and was part of his first album, A Fly Guy's Theme.

In 2011, Tabi released his fourth studio album, called The Summer Years. This album included parts of his father's music. It also featured other artists like Terri Walker and Murs.
