Early Life and Education
Tage Rita Takhe was born in the lovely Ziro Valley, located in Arunachal Pradesh. She is part of the Apatani tribe, who are known for their unique culture and farming practices.
She studied to become an agricultural engineer at NERIST (North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology) in Nirjuli, Arunachal Pradesh. This training helped her understand how to grow crops and manage farms, which later became very useful in her career.
Building a Kiwi Winery
In 2017, Tage Rita started her own special winery called Naara Aaba. She had a brilliant idea: to make wine from kiwi fruit! This was a great solution for the Ziro Valley because kiwi fruits grew there in huge amounts. Farmers often had too many kiwis and didn't know what to do with them all.
Rita gets her organic kiwi fruits from her own orchards and from the Kiwi Growers Cooperative Society in Arunachal Pradesh. This means farmers have a guaranteed buyer for their fruits, which helps them earn money. Her winery uses traditional methods to make the wine. It took her six years of careful research and planning to perfect her winemaking process.
Growing the Business
Since 2017, the Naara Aaba winery has grown a lot. It started by making 20,000 litres of wine and now produces 60,000 litres! They use 16 large tanks for this process. In the first year alone, the winery helped about 300 farmers. They bought around 20 metric tons (which is 20,000 kilograms) of kiwis, encouraging farmers to continue growing this fruit.
The whole process of making kiwi wine takes about four months. This includes crushing the raw fruit and then bottling the finished wine. For the best taste, the wine should be served chilled, between six and eight degrees Celsius.

Tage Rita has received many important awards for her work and for inspiring others.
