Why a New Airport Was Built

For a long time, Taipei Songshan Airport was Taiwan's main international airport. It is located right in the city of Taipei. However, as more and more people started traveling, Songshan Airport became too small. There wasn't enough space to make it bigger or build new runways.

To solve this problem, leaders decided to build a brand-new airport. This new airport would be much larger and could operate 24 hours a day to handle all the growing travel needs. Construction began, and the new airport was built in Taoyuan City, which is close to Taipei. This allowed Taiwan to have a modern, big airport ready for the future.

Getting Around the Airport

Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport is a very big place with two main buildings called terminals. These terminals are where passengers check in for their flights, go through security, and board their planes.

Moving Between Terminals

To help travelers move easily between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, there is a special train system. It's called the Skytrain, and it quickly carries passengers back and forth. This makes it simple to get to the right gate or connect to another flight.

Connecting to the City

Getting to and from the airport is easy thanks to the Taoyuan Airport MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) system. This special train line connects the airport directly to Taipei and other areas in Taoyuan. There are two types of trains:
