Tajikistan sent athletes to compete in the 2018 Winter Paralympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. This was the first time Tajikistan had ever taken part in the Winter Paralympics! Two athletes from Tajikistan competed at the 2018 Winter Paralympics. Both of them took part in para-Nordic skiing events. Tajikistan was one of three countries making their first appearance at the Winter Paralympics that year, along with Georgia and North Korea.
History at the Games
The 2018 Games were a big moment for Tajikistan. It was their very first time competing in the Winter Paralympics. Before this, Tajikistan had only sent athletes to the Summer Paralympic Games. They competed in four Summer Games: 2004, 2008, 2012, and 2016. In total, three athletes from Tajikistan had competed in these four Summer Games, but they had not won any medals.
Tajikistan did not send any athletes to the 2018 Winter Olympics. However, they had competed in every Winter Olympics since 2002.

Para-Nordic skiing is a winter sport for athletes with disabilities. It includes two main types of skiing: cross-country skiing and biathlon. Tajikistan had a skier competing in this exciting sport at the 2018 Games. The athletes prepared for the competition by training in Germany and China.
Race Schedule
The para-Nordic skiing events had a set schedule. On March 12, a 15 km race took place for women who were standing or had vision impairments. On March 14, there were sprint classic qualification races for both men and women. The semifinals and finals for the sprint classic were held later that same day. Finally, on March 17, the classic race was held for standing and visually impaired women.
