Takashi Kano (加納 孝, Kano Takashi, October 31, 1920 – June 4, 2000) was a Japanese football player. He was born in Tokyo on October 31, 1920. Kano played as a forward, which means he was a player who tried to score goals. He was an important member of the Japan national team.
Playing for Clubs
Takashi Kano started his football journey in school. He played for Tokyo Daihachi High School. After that, he went to Waseda University.
Once he finished university, he joined a team called Waseda WMW. This team was special because it was made up of players who had all studied at Waseda University. In 1940, his team did very well. They won second place in the Emperor's Cup. This was a big football tournament in Japan. The tournament was then stopped for a few years because of World War II.
Playing for Japan
In March 1951, when Takashi Kano was 30 years old, he was chosen for the Japan national team. This was the first time the team played since World War II ended. His first game for Japan was on March 7, 1951. He played against Iran at the 1951 Asian Games.
Kano also played in the 1954 Asian Games. In that competition, he scored two goals for Japan. He played a total of seven games for his country. He scored two goals in these games before he stopped playing for the national team in 1954.
Takashi Kano passed away on June 4, 2000. He was 79 years old when he died in Ota, Tokyo.
