Takaya Oishi's Football Journey

Early Life and College Years

Takaya Oishi was born in Shizuoka, Japan, on July 7, 1972. He loved football from a young age. After finishing high school, he went to the University of Tsukuba. There, he continued to play football and improve his skills as a goalkeeper.

Starting Professional Football

In 1995, after graduating from college, Oishi joined a professional team called Verdy Kawasaki. This team played in the top Japanese league, the J1 League. At Verdy Kawasaki, he was usually the backup goalkeeper. The main goalkeeper was Shinkichi Kikuchi, who also played for the Japanese national team.

Playing More Games

In 1997, Takaya Oishi got a chance to play more often. This happened because the main goalkeeper, Kikuchi, got injured. Oishi stepped up and played in many important matches that season.

Moving to Other Teams

In April 1998, Oishi moved to another team, Sanfrecce Hiroshima, for a short time. This was a "loan" move, meaning he played for them temporarily. However, he did not play in any games for Sanfrecce Hiroshima. He returned to Verdy Kawasaki in September of the same year.

In 1999, Oishi joined a new club called Yokohama FC. This team was in the Japan Football League (JFL), which is a lower division. Yokohama FC had great success while he was there. They won the championship two years in a row, in 1999 and 2000. Oishi was the main goalkeeper in 1999. However, in 2000, he played fewer games.

Final Years in Football

In 2001, Takaya Oishi moved to another JFL team, Jatco TT (which later became just Jatco). He played many matches for them over two seasons. After the 2002 season, Oishi decided to retire from professional football. Throughout his career, he played a total of 63 league games.
