Takehiko Kawanishi (川西 武彦, Kawanishi Takehiko, born October 9, 1938) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a Midfielder and was part of the Japan national team.

Club Career

Playing for Toyo Industries

Takehiko Kawanishi was born in Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan, on October 9, 1938. After finishing his studies at Rikkyo University, he joined his local football club, Toyo Industries, in 1961.

In 1965, Toyo Industries became part of a new football league called the Japan Soccer League. Kawanishi played for Toyo Industries until he retired in 1966. Even though he was part of the team, he did not play in any of the league games during his time there.

National Team Career

Representing Japan

In December 1959, while he was still a student at Rikkyo University, Takehiko Kawanishi was chosen to play for the Japan national team. This was for the qualification games for the 1960 Summer Olympics.

He made his first appearance for Japan on December 20, 1959, in a match against South Korea. Kawanishi continued to play for Japan, appearing in 8 games for the national team until 1962.
