Taking Tea is a special sculpture located in the small country town of Dumbleyung, Western Australia. This artwork celebrates the hard work of the local Country Women's Association (CWA). This group was active from 1930 until 2013.

The CWA aimed to make life better for women and children. They especially helped families living in country areas of Australia.

What is the "Taking Tea" Sculpture?

The "Taking Tea" sculpture is made of bronze. It shows an older woman pouring a cup of tea for a younger woman. This scene represents the friendship and support shared within the CWA.

Honoring the Country Women's Association

The Dumbleyung CWA group asked for this sculpture to be made. They used money from selling their old building and land in 2006 to pay for it. The sculpture helps remember all the good things the CWA did for the community.

How the Sculpture Was Made

Artist Phil Shelton created the "Taking Tea" sculpture. He looked at old photos of past CWA members from Dumbleyung to get ideas. The sculpture was officially shown to the public on August 31, 2013. Many past and present CWA members came to the special ceremony.
