Takis Loukanidis (Greek: Τάκης Λουκανίδης, born September 25, 1937 – died January 11, 2018) was a famous Greek footballer. He played as a midfielder in the 1950s and 1960s.

Playing Career

Takis Loukanidis was born in Paranesti, a village in Greece. When he was young, he faced a tough time. His father passed away, and Takis went to live in an orphanage at age 10.

Early Football Days

He started playing football with a youth team called AEK Komotini. Later, he joined the main team of Doxa Dramas in 1955. He quickly showed great talent on the field.

Joining Panathinaikos

Soon, big football clubs in Greece and even abroad, like Juventus, noticed his skills. He eventually joined Panathinaikos, a very famous Greek team, in 1961.

Takis played his first game for Panathinaikos on March 28, 1962. A few days later, on April 1, 1962, he scored his first goal for the team. This goal helped Panathinaikos win their match 5–0. He played for Panathinaikos until 1969.

Later Career and National Team

Takis Loukanidis finished his playing career at Aris Thessaloniki. There, he helped his team win the Greek Cup in 1970.

He also played for the Greece national team. He made 23 appearances and scored three goals for his country between 1958 and 1967. His first game for Greece was on October 1, 1958, against France.
