The Taku River Tlingit First Nation is a group of Tlingit people. They live in northern British Columbia, Canada, and also in Yukon. They are a "band government", which means they manage their own community.

This First Nation is made up of two main groups, called ḵwaan (pronounced 'kwaan'). These are like different families or tribes within the larger Tlingit people. One group is the Áa Tlein Ḵwáan, who live near Atlin Lake. The other is the Deisleen Ḵwáan, who live near Teslin Lake. The Deisleen Ḵwáan also work closely with the Teslin Tlingit Council in Teslin, Yukon. The main offices for the Taku River Tlingit First Nation are in Atlin, British Columbia.

Indian Reserves are special areas of land set aside for First Nations people in Canada. These lands are for the use and benefit of the First Nation. Even though some Taku River Tlingit people live in Yukon, all their official reserves are in British Columbia.

  • Jennings River Indian Reserve No. 8: Found on the east shore of Teslin Lake, near the Jennings River.
  • McDonald Lake Indian Reserve No. 1: This reserve is at the north end of McDonald Lake.
  • Silver Salmon Lake Indian Reserve No. 5: Located on the Silver Salmon River, near Kuthai Lake.
  • Taku Indian Reserve No. 6: This reserve is where the Nakina River and Silver Salmon River meet.
  • Teslin Lake Indian Reserve No. 7: Found at the south end of Teslin Lake.
  • Teslin Lake Indian Reserve No. 9: Another reserve on the west shore of Teslin Lake, near the Gladys River.
  • Unnamed Indian Reserve No. 10: This small reserve is located within the Atlin Townsite.
