Taku Watanabe (渡辺 卓, Watanabe Taku, born November 9, 1971) is a former Japanese football player. He was a strong defender who played for several teams in Japan's professional leagues. These included Bellmare Hiratsuka (now Shonan Bellmare) and Consadole Sapporo. He is known for helping his teams win important championships and get promoted to higher leagues.

Playing Career

Taku Watanabe was born in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan, on November 9, 1971. After finishing high school, he started his professional football career in 1990. He joined a team called Fujita Industries. This team later became known as Bellmare Hiratsuka.

From his first season, Taku played in several matches. By 1992, he became a key player, often playing as a "center back." A center back is a defender who plays in the middle of the field. Their job is to stop the other team from scoring goals.

In 1993, his team, Fujita Industries, won a championship. This win helped them get promoted to the J1 League in 1994. The J1 League is the top professional football league in Japan.

From 1994, Taku Watanabe became a regular player for Bellmare Hiratsuka. That same year, his team won the 1994 Emperor's Cup. This is a very important football tournament in Japan.

In 1996, Taku moved to another team called Cerezo Osaka. However, he did not play as many matches there. The next year, in 1997, he moved to Consadole Sapporo. This team was in the Japan Football League, which was a lower division at the time.

At Consadole Sapporo, Taku played regularly again. His team won the championship in 1997. This victory meant they were promoted to the J1 League for the 1998 season.

In 1999, Taku moved to Mito HollyHock. This team was based in his home area. Mito HollyHock finished third in the Japan Football League in 1999. This helped them get promoted to the J2 League in 2000. The J2 League is the second-highest professional league in Japan.

In 2001, he joined another J2 League team, Montedio Yamagata. Taku Watanabe played for Montedio Yamagata until the end of the 2002 season. After that, he retired from playing professional football.
