Taku Watanabe (渡辺 卓, Watanabe Taku, born November 9, 1971) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a defender.

Taku Watanabe's Football Journey

Taku Watanabe was born in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan, on November 9, 1971. He grew up loving football. After finishing high school, he started his professional career.

Early Career with Fujita Industries

In 1990, Taku Watanabe joined a team called Fujita Industries. This team later became known as Bellmare Hiratsuka. He played in several matches during his first season. By 1992, he became a key player. He often played as a center back. A center back is a defender who helps protect the goal.

In 1993, his team, Fujita Industries, won the championship. This big win meant they were promoted to the J1 League in 1994. The J1 League is Japan's top professional football league.

Success with Bellmare Hiratsuka

From 1994, Taku Watanabe became a regular starter for Bellmare Hiratsuka. He was a very important part of the team. In 1994, the club achieved another great success. They won the 1994 Emperor's Cup, a major football tournament in Japan.

Moving to New Teams

In 1996, Taku Watanabe moved to Cerezo Osaka. However, he did not play in many matches there. The next year, in 1997, he joined Consadole Sapporo. This team was in the Japan Football League at the time.

He played regularly for Consadole Sapporo. The team won the championship in 1997. This victory helped them get promoted to the J1 League for the 1998 season.

Playing for Local Clubs

In 1999, Taku Watanabe moved to Mito HollyHock. This club was based in his home area of Ibaraki. Mito HollyHock was also in the Japan Football League. In 1999, the team finished in 3rd place.
