Takuya Mikami (三上 卓哉, Mikami Takuya, born February 13, 1980) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a defender. His older brother, Kazuyoshi, was also a football player.

Playing Career Highlights

Takuya Mikami was born in Saitama, Japan, on February 13, 1980. After finishing his studies at Komazawa University, he began his professional football journey.

Starting with Urawa Reds

In 2002, Mikami joined his local team, Urawa Reds, which plays in the J1 League. The J1 League is the top professional football league in Japan. During his time at Urawa Reds, he played a few matches, sometimes as a left-side midfielder. However, he didn't get to play very often in games until 2004.

Moving to Kyoto Sanga FC

In June 2004, Mikami moved to Kyoto Purple Sanga, a club in the J2 League. The J2 League is the second-highest professional football league in Japan. At Kyoto, he quickly became a regular player, usually playing as a left-side defender.

In the 2005 season, Kyoto Sanga FC won the J2 League championship. This victory meant they were promoted back to the J1 League. However, Takuya Mikami's playing time decreased from 2006 onwards. A year later, Kyoto Sanga FC was relegated back to the J2 League.

Time at Ehime FC and Retirement

In 2008, Mikami moved to another J2 League club, Ehime FC. Here, he continued to play as a regular left-side defender. Just like before, his opportunities to play started to decrease from 2010. He decided to retire from professional football at the end of the 2011 season.

Throughout his career, Takuya Mikami played a total of 178 league matches and scored 2 goals.
