Talbott Teas was started in 2003 by two friends, Shane Talbott and Dr. Steven Nakisher.
Shane Talbott worked for over 20 years in the beauty and wellness world. He was even the personal hair colorist for Oprah Winfrey for ten years! Dr. Steven Nakisher is a psychologist, which means he helps people with their thoughts and feelings. He is also an entrepreneur, someone who starts and runs businesses.
Talbott Teas made special tea mixes for big events and famous people. For example, they created a "Ruby Slippers Blend" for Warner Brothers to celebrate 70 years of the movie The Wizard of Oz. They also made "Clara's Tea Slippers Blend" for the Joffrey Ballet's shows of The Nutcracker. The company even made gift sets for the actors and crew of the movie Slumdog Millionaire at the 2009 Academy Awards.
In December 2011, Talbott Teas won two awards for their "Chocolate Almond Allure" tea. This was at the AIDS Foundation of Chicago's yearly "World of Chocolate Event." A big moment for the company was in 2012 when Talbott Teas was chosen as one of Oprah's Favorite Things.
In February 2011, Nakisher and Talbott went on the TV show Shark Tank. On the show, they got an investment of $250,000 from Kevin O'Leary. In return, he received a 35 percent share of their company. After this, in 2012, Talbott Teas was bought by Jamba Juice.
