How It Started
Talbott Teas began in 2003. It was created by two friends, Shane Talbott and Dr. Steven Nakisher. Shane Talbott worked in beauty salons for over 20 years. He even styled hair for famous people like Oprah Winfrey. Dr. Steven Nakisher was a psychologist and also a business person.
Special Tea Blends
Talbott Teas made unique tea mixes. They created these for the arts and entertainment world. For example, they made a special blend for Warner Brothers' 70th anniversary of The Wizard of Oz. This tea was called The Ruby Slippers Blend. They also made Clara's Tea Slippers Blend for the Joffrey Ballet's shows of The Nutcracker. The company even made gift sets for the cast and crew of Slumdog Millionaire at the 2009 Academy Awards.
Awards and Recognition
Talbott Teas won two awards in December 2011. These were for their Chocolate Almond Allure tea. In 2012, Talbott Teas was chosen as one of Oprah's Favorite Things. This meant Oprah Winfrey really liked their teas!
Appearing on Shark Tank
In February 2011, Shane Talbott and Steven Nakisher appeared on a TV show called Shark Tank. On the show, they asked for money to help their business grow. They received an investment of $250,000 from a businessman named Kevin O'Leary. In return, Kevin O'Leary got a 35 percent share of their company. After this, in 2012, Talbott Teas was bought by Jamba Juice.
