Tamara Ivanovna Tikhonova was born on June 13, 1964. She is a former cross-country skier from the Soviet Union and Russia. She competed in the sport from 1984 to 1992.

Tamara Tikhonova is famous for her amazing wins at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary. There, she won three medals. She earned two gold medals and one silver medal. She also won five medals at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships. These included two gold medals, one silver, and two bronze.

She was given a special award called the Order of the Red Banner of Labour for her achievements.
